Decline in Stroke Mortality

Report finds 30% decline in stroke mortality in U.S.
A new report shows that stroke deaths have dropped 30% in the U.S. in the past 11 years, following a century-long decline. The downward trend may be attributed primarily to reducing blood pressure levels of Americans, co-author George Howard wrote in a statement scheduled to be published in the journal Stroke. The decline is “a big deal, so you could argue that our battle is won. But I think [there’s still] a lot to be accomplished in this area,” Howard said.  U.S. News & World Report/HealthDay News (12/3)
